The “furry” stylization of art, as we all have so dubbed it, has for longer around been than most recognize. America’s most beloved cartoon character, Bugs Bunny, is a prime example of the anthropomorphic style. The addition of such bodily parts as the tail, large ears, whiskers, and fur allow levels of expression unmatched by other methods. Much potential lies with the anthro style, and as of yet we’ve but scratched the surface of what can be achieved. Very saddening, it is, to see such potential squandered. Practitioners and fans alike of this style are discriminated against- the reasoning behind this being works of a pornographic nature classified similarly. Furry pornography is what is most seen by the non-fan base, and by such fans and practitioners are oft slandered as perverts. “Yiff”, as it is called, dominates the anthropomorphic genre. Abjection ruling, the entire field suffers, as many do not wish to associate with ilk what likens itself to it. To call oneself a furry is to announce a sexual fetish- it is not recognized that yiff and anthro art are indeed of separate categorem. Liken the situation to this: in both porn shoots and modeling shoots peoples are photographed posing in an appealing manner, but they differ much. Anthro art is hindered by this misinterpretation of the public; in consequence, we are at a loss of a progressive and expressive style. To persecute the yiff fan-base would not ease this quandary, as this is in amorality. Though we may not agree with that they pleasure in, equally wrong is it to judge them for such. Rather, we as a whole must together band, in aspirations of molting this beleaguering pericarp. Declare your fandom, and make known the separation of furry and yiff. Liberate this stylization of art, so that it may flourish and become distinctual: let it develop so that we may witness a new age of anthropomorphism.

OH wow. I'm honored that you bothered to make this! Thank you!

And the truth was told! And it was told with fire and passion!! And they listened to that truth with blazing ears!!! THE MIRTH!
My pleasure! I can't draw too well, so I lend my skills in language.
You know you bring up a lot of really good points. This is amazing! I've got to fave it so that everyone else can truly appreciate those of us that call ourselves furry or anthro artists and attempt to seperate ourselves from the masses of yiff practitioners that so easily flood art forums. Keep up the amazing work, and I'm sure someday people will be able to see a difference in styles. <3

I must fave, for these words must become known.

...The word "fave" just doesn't fit there. XD But yeah. The sad truth. That's why almost every single fur is in hiding. And they should. Tis dangerous for them. They're like walking roadkill wherever they go.

Thanks a' plenty! Do make the effort to spread the word!
Thank you! Sadly works of language seem to go under-appreciated here, so your help in spreading this is most wonderful.
It seems to me that it is agreeable that people hide who they are because of the thoughts of others. Quite frankly though, I don't see as much, and would rather go out of my way, given the chance, to have everyone differentiate themselves in an attempt to stop this foolish ignorance that common people share as a whole.

Now, don't get me wrong, I myself keep to myself away from people, and that's the way I'm probably going to be for life. But that's not going to stop me from helping others get rid of this ridiculous squabble of what should be expressed in the world. The first time I've ever heard of this anthro culture was from this very website, and quite frankly, I think that it's probably the most expressive art I will ever see.

I will fave this, in hopes that people will see the shame that they should have for themselves from what they do to attack people who are interested in simple fantasies such as this.

A commendable action! My thanks to you.
*bows*

You're very welcome. It's not often that I see people that are more intelligent than the average crap you see walking around.

How DO I spread the word, though? Not everybody just looks at random peoples' favorites just to see if there's a certain something they wanna see. I guess I could make my own one of these, but would that give way to plaigarism? Plus, I'd probably be too lazy to finish such a thing. Kinda sad that I've been "Americanized."

(Long post/rant warning: Continue at own risk of loss of sanity)

As in, I'm impatient. I blame Starbucks and McDonald's for the majority of it, though. If I wanna go anywhere in life I've gotta kick the habit to the curve! Drilling to the heavens? Not so much. (Anime reference.)

Plus, all the people there who are totally anti-fur don't help, along with that Vanity Fair article. The episode about furries on CSI? It looks like most people took it as it was: fiction.

Now, aside from the rant, the point is that I don't know HOW to spread the word in a better way. Y'know, as in something that would grab people's attention. Mere words can't do anything as proven over and over again, no matter how much we spread the word. The only people who will accept this are those oblivious to the fandom and those who are part of the fandom. Or maybe the peace-lovin' hippies, which rock. :D

The problem with any statement that we make which include the words "innocent" and "furries" in the same paragraph is that so many would consider it immoral trash, because, as stated by you, announcing the word "furry" is to announce a fetish that should not relate to it. Does this mean there is no way to convince anyone who is absolutely anti-fur?

End ridiculously lengthy post.
